Depending on your citizenship you may need a visa to enter Germany. To extend your visa in Germany you will have to apply for a resident permit. You can find the necessary information in the box below.

We would like to offer our support with your visa & residence permit application. As an international researcher, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

To apply for your German visa and inquire about the status of your visa application, find the nearest German embassy or consulate in your current country of residence. You can find their specific visa requirements, documents and contact information in the list of countries.

The residence permit (which includes the work permit) is the extension of your visa. In contrast to visa applications, applications for a residence permit are processed by the responsible local Immigration Office in Germany.
In Dresden, the Immigration Office is also called “Dresden Welcome Center”, not to be confused with our DRESDEN-concept Welcome Center at TU Dresden.
Before you can apply for a residence permit, you need to be registered in the city. We will help you with that after you arrived. After the city registration you can contact the Immigration Office via email to request an appointment for obtaining the residence permit.
