Start of the new DRESDEN-concept Research Group AAI

01.11.2025

As part of the German federal government’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) strategy, the Saxon center of excellence ScaDS.AI Dresden/Leipzig (Center for Scalable Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence) at the Dresden campus of the TUD Technical University of Dresden is being expanded into a leading German AI center of excellence for big data and artificial intelligence (AI). The research center is a department of the Center for Interdisciplinary Digital Sciences (CIDS), TUD’s interdisciplinary academic center of excellence for research on digitalization.

The DRESDEN-concept Research Group “AAI – Automation in Digital Aircraft Design: From Automated AI Augmentation to Automated Process Chains” is established by the Center for Scalable Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence (ScaDS.AI) at TUD Technical University of Dresden and the DLR-Institute of Software Methods for Product Virtualization (DLR-SP).

The DRESDEN-concept Research Group “AAI” develops and applies innovative artificial intelligence (AI) methods to automate complex process chains in the fields of aviation and energy, which are significant, among other things, for the green energy transition. The focus is on developing novel deep learning approaches to create a framework that enables an automated workflow in the design process of digital aircraft.

The research group is led by Dr. Neda Ebrahimi Pour. She holds a PhD. in mechanical engineering from the University of Siegen and has been working at the DLR site in Dresden since April 2021. Her research interests are in the fields of:

  • artificial intelligence,
  • numerical analysis, and
  • high-performance computing.
