Scenic Hike Through Saxon Switzerland
Join us for a scenic hike through Saxon Switzerland, where dramatic landscapes meet fascinating local history!
We’ll follow a beautiful 7.4 km circular route through the stunning Saxon Switzerland National Park. The hike takes us through the picturesque Tiefen Grund valley, along the adventurous Brand Steps, and up to the spectacular Hafersäcke viewpoint. We’ll then continue to the famous Brand viewpoint, also known as the “Balcony of Saxon Switzerland,” offering breathtaking panoramic views over the Elbe Sandstone Mountains.
The route is rated moderate and takes around 2–2.5 hours, with approximately 210 m of elevation gain. Expect forest trails, natural paths, steep sections, and more than 800 steps along the Brand Steps, so sturdy shoes and a good level of fitness are recommended.
Along the way, there will be plenty of opportunities to stop, enjoy the scenery, and take a break. We can also grab a snack or ice cream at the Brandbaude before continuing our hike.
