What’s on in Dresden
20 – 26 August

26.08.2020

We are back for you with some tips on what you can do at the moment. It still applies: Please stay healthy! Keep your distance to people, don’t stay to long in closed rooms with other people. Avoid physical contact. Wash your hands extremely often. Cough in the crook of your arm, etc., etc. Though the situation with the coronavirus is currently getting more serious again, not all the entertainment possibilities are closed. Check out what we found!

Tips for outside

There are still the last days of the wonderful Palais Sommer Dresden going on!
The people from Palais Sommer like to touch with art, culture and education in a free and informal way. With different events they are a true impulse for the development of values and consciousness in society. Not only are there such things as a piano concert on Friday night (https://palaissommer.de/programm/yeeun-suh-hyojin-park-kor/), but also painting together e.g. on Friday and Saturday (at 2 pm; please register prior via grundmann@palaissommer.de).
Additionally the Palais Sommer provides a wide range of Yoga opportunities. The next days there is always morning Yoga and evening Yoga in the Park – the last time this Sunday at 9 a.m.

Also on Sunday the “objekt klein a” (oka) – under normal conditions a dance-club for techno-music – open doors for a further round of self-made pizza in its outside parts. During afternoon people gather in relaxed atmosphere and are happy, for anybody to join them!
What does the future of clubbing look like in view of the imperative of social distance? After an interesting art exhibition, last weekend, which hopefully will be also seen in Palais Palett, soon (https://www.facebook.com/events/303950094142764/), the oka do find further alternative forms of gathering. Every Wednesday during “Streifen” they show divers movie in the outdoor area of the club.

Meet new people every last Friday of the month! At the Critical Mass Events cyclists meet to ride in community through the city, both protesting  for more cycle friendly city and against the preeminence of cars and also because it is fun to ride as a group. The next event will be on August 28th at 6:30 pm, as always starting at the Skatepark Lingnerallee. You should come by bike. Swing on and meet new people!

Tips for streamings

Fortunately there is the internet, where we can now visit many events online. No queues, no unfriendly people!

The world-famous Montreux Jazz Festival offers more than 50 streaming concerts free of charge via an online platform, featuring artists such as Ray Charles, the Wu-Tang Clan, Johnny Cash, Nina Simone, Marvin Gaye, Deep Purple and Carlos Santana. Check it out!

The famous Berlin Gorki stage is back! If you feel like theater, there is a weekly 24-hour theatre on Wednesday! Check it out. Here is the English website.

Another super streaming portal is the arte united we stream. There you will find various offers, from Dancehall, to Hip Hop, electronic music, to various discussion talks. It is worthwhile to visit it in any case. You can simply read through the program, maybe you will find something good for you!
