Event on28.08.2020 - 30.08.2020
Time from:15:45 Uhr - until:18:30 Uhr

After all our outdoor activities were such a great success, we thought we would extend this to a whole weekend and take you to Germany’s most famous hiking area – the Harz Mountains.

Surrounded by dense forests and wonderfully clear lakes, the Harz is known above all for its highest point, the Brocken. According to most Germanic myths, in the 17th century, witches were said to dance there during the “Walpurgis Night” with the devil, which is why we will try to reach this highest point on Saturday to see what is left of these wild dances.

After our hike we will have some time to refuel at the hostel before we go out for a nice traditional dinner at one of Wernigerode’s oldest restaurants, the “Kartoffelhaus”. At 9 pm, just when the sky is starting to get dark,  we are invited to a nightly guided tour through Wernigerode, where a true “witch” tells us all about the witch trials as a cruel part of Germanic cultural history.

On Sunday, we will do another small hike before taking the train back to Dresden at lunchtime. We will arrive back in Dresden at approximately 6.30 pm on Sunday evening.

We will stay in the cute little hostel called “Jugendherberge Wernigerode” . You will stay in a dorm of 4 people.

The price includes: 2 nights + breakfast at the hostel, the dinner on Saturday (without drinks), the train tickets to Wernigerode and back plus the guided “witch-tour” on Saturday night. You need to bring some cash for your own food on Friday evening, Saturday lunch and Sunday lunch.

IMPORTANT NOTE: As we will do some long hikes on that weekend, you need to have a medium fitness level in order to join the excursion and be willing to go for at least one long hike!
